Oregon Scientific PE980BK AnyWear 3D Pedometer, BlackReviewsMy employer just gave me one of these and I searched the value here on Amazon. Wow! I would never have paid that much for it. $[....] is steep. BUT it is the best pedometer I have ever used. It fits anywhere in my pocket without bothering me. I have a blackberry on my hip and a slim personal phone in my pocket, chap stick, keys, wallet, etc so it helps to be small an slim. Currently it is in my shirt pocket. It sure is nice not to have to have this on my waste. As long as it holds up I think this is a great device. UPDATE: I temporarily misplaced this because it is so slim and easy to forget you carry it. I thought I had lost it and contemplated actually buying one. BUT I found it yesterday and I am again happy. [...] Average Rating:![]() |

Pedometer Plus-Entery LevelReviewsThe pedometer in this package is simple, functional and easy to set up. It displays time, mileage, steps, and calories burned. The pedometer is a colorful improvement over one I received from the City of Portland at a recent pedestrian event. The package contains a CD containing one 30-minute beginning walking workout. The workout is definitely for beginners! I'm a more advanced walker. The workout is walking with two simple exercises: shoulder rolls and lunges. I found Debbie Rocker's narration to be cheesy at first, but now that I've used the guided workout several times, I've come to appreciate her motivational talk. I bought this package for the pedometer and viewed the workout as a bonus. But, for the price, the CD should have contained another workout, with different exercises. Average Rating:![]() |

Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket PedometerReviewsThis pedometer is easy to use, very accurate, and it can sit in your waist pocket. It has many functions and its easy to use. I highly recommend it. The price is right too. It amazes me how a company could make such a wonderfully accurate and feature rich device and then give it a almost nonexistent belt clip. The clip is so flimsy it comes off at the slightest touch. This is on a device that is used to measure exercise levels and distances. When carried inside of a pocket the device was not nearly as accurate and needs to be carried in there with a certain orientation. If not for the belt clip I would have given this a 5 star rating. I love everything about this pedometer. It was easy to program and get started. I like that it tracks your steps, aerobic steps, calories burned, miles walked, etc. It's ability to reset itself every night at midnight is also very handy. A great product for a very reasonable price here on Amazon. It is keeping me on track with my daily workouts and just to wear all day to track steps, etc. Love it!!!! I have tried the inexpensive pedometers that click away the steps. I found these to be very inaccurate, plus as silly as it may sound, the clicking sound irritated me. The Omron HJ-122 is great. I walked with a friend using his GPS and my pedometer matched his distance calculator. It is silent and the functions (time of day, miles, aerobic steps, 7-day memory, calorie counter) make it more interesting. It is a little larger and heavier than I wish, but not so much that it is a drawback. The fact that you can put it in you pocket is handy, plus the leash clip holds on tight. It would be nice if the battery compartment used a slide-and-click method as the timy screws aren't easy. At least they give you a screwdriver to fit the tiny screws...an eyeglasses repair kit also works. Keep resetting itself to zero constantly, from day one, doesn't matter how much I try not to distrub it in any way possible. The worst experience with pedometers I've ever had! Average Rating:![]() |

Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer with Advanced Omron Health Management SoftwareReviewsEasy to use, and great motivator to walk more and even eat better. Everytime I look at how many steps I've taken, I'm reminded of my fitness goals. I haven't uploaded the info into the computer yet, but am looking forward to that feature. The product is exactly as advertised. I especially like that I'm encouraged to walk more by tracking my progress with the included software. The ease of use provided by the non-restrictive mounting requirements is also a plus (e.g., attach it to a backpack). Using the safety strap is essential, as the unit has fallen off my waist band several times. The only negative comment is that it is a bit bulky, but this is very tolerable. Great Product. I where it every day, helps me track my activity for the day. The only thing I don't like is that it falls off my waistband on my pants, pretty easy and doesn't seem to be accurate if the item is not vertical i.e. sideways in a pocket. I like the software, but haven't played around with it much. My wife and I each got one of the Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometers, and have been very impressed at how easy they were to set up, and how accurate they have been. We've used several pedometers before, but have never had as accurate as the Omron HJ-720ITC. It is also very helpful to be able to download the records to see how we are progressing. If you are considering purchase of the Omron HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer, I highly recommend it. I've been using this pedometer for a few weeks now and have to say that all-in-all it is a pretty good model. Basically, after set-up, you carry it in your pocket (or wear it on your belt) and it tracks your steps and your aerobic steps by the time you take them. You can then off-load that data into a program that will draw graphs that will compare the steps taken against the targets you set. The good stuff: The pedometer is pretty easy to set-up, the interface on the computer is good looking and largely self-explanatory. It comes with a wrist strap and a clip so that it can be worn like a pocket watch or strapped into your briefcase or purse. It will apparently even count steps when it is being carried in one of those locations. (Though I have not tried this.) The bad stuff: The clock on it is not the best. Mine gains about three minutes a week. The unit's face must be within 30-degrees of vertical while being carried or it will not register steps. It does not matter how the unit is oriented as long as the face is nearly vertical... If you think of it like a coin, if the coin is standing on its edge, it works, if it is laying on its face or its back it doesn't. This is pretty easy as long as your pockets are fairly tight... but as I tend to wear loose clothing when I work out, I noticed that the thing was not registering the time I spent on the treadmill. I went back and read the instructions and discovered this. Clipping the thing to my belt during the workouts has fixed this issue. Overall, I would recommend this. There are a couple quirks that bother me as a software designer, but the average person would probably never notice them. For example. If you leave the PC program running and the pedometer hooked-up to the PC, the system will put your steps on the wrong date... (This happened to me once!) I set-up to transfer my steps on Friday night and then the phone rang. I found the thing still connected the next morning, finished the offload and then noticed that Saturday was already populated with the steps I had taken the day before. Oh well! Too bad the only way to correct data errors is to uninstall the software and start over! But as I have said all-in-all, this is a pretty good pedometer and I would recommend it to a friend. Safety Leash for Pedometer (1) Unit. Helps Save Pedometers From LossReviewsI bought this strap to reinforce the one on my new pedometer. It has a metal clasp that attaches to your waistband. The first time I used it, the strap broke away from the metal clasp and I found the pedometer with the strap in my pocket and the clasp alone attached to my waistband. Luckily the pedometer was in my pocket. I'm still using the strap after tying it with several knots to the clasp. However, if my pedometer had not been a pocket model, it would have been lost on the first day. I would not recommend this strap to anyone. The Safety leash for Pedometer was a total waste of money. The item was poorly constructed with poor quality materials. I could have made it in my basement and done a better job at a fraction of the cost. In addition, the pedometer came with a Safety Leash included. I would send it back but the shipping cost is greater that the purchase price of this piece of elastic with a clip on one end. DON'T BUY, DON'T, DONT'T BUY. 5 starsss up ..way up!!!!....for the price of this little piece of plasic...It delivers....it caluculates calories burned, miles walked, steps taken and also neat little feature...aeorobic steps...those are continual steps for more than 10 minutes....It resets...(another feature that saves time for me fiddling)...Great price Great product. I have had this leash for about 2 weeks and it has saved my Fitbit at least 6 times. It is inexpensive insurance to prevent your Fitbit from unknowingly falling off. The plastic clip allows the Fitbit to be removed from the tether for use in the wristband and easily reattached in the morning. Highly recommended. I bought this little leash from Amazon for a pedometer that I also bought for my wife. I thought that the leash plus separate shipping was a bit pricey for what amounts to a piece of string to tie the pedometer to oneself to prevent loss. However, I had the money and it was a Christmas present that I wanted to arrive fully equipped and nice looking. The leash is better than expected and has subsequently actually prevented the dislodging of the pedometer on two occasions. I recommend it. Average Rating:![]() |

Although your pedometer has a belt clip, add a pedometer leash for extra insurance that your pedometer does not hit the ground if it somehow falls off your waistband. The leash attaches to your pedometer at one end, and a metal clip to your waistband ensuring that you never lose your pedometer. |

Apple iPod nano 8 GB Black (5th Generation) NEWEST MODELReviewsI purchased this to make my life a little simpler and not have to carry around CD's anymore. This definitely does it's job!! It's so cute and tiny! It's so easy to carry it in your purse or pocket! The only thing that is disappointing is compared to my husband's ipod classic, the sound quality isn't so good. But if I counldn't compare and know a difference, it would be fine! I just have to turn up my stereo a lot more when it's plugged into my car. Cool radio but the playback of mp3 and AAC is so so so bad. This was a replacement for my nano 2nd gen to play in the car but I sold it back to Gazelle after a month or trying to make it sound good. Get the Creative Zen X-Fi or a Sony player, awesome sound quality on both. Fast shipping and exactly what i wanted. Will do business again. Thank you! If you're not wanting to spend a lot of money but still want an ipod, this is the one you want to buy. It has plenty of storage for you with 16GB, and even has the very first iPod video player so it can be a very snazzy camcorder if you want. You can't go wrong with this iPod. I love my new nano. Smartglobe Deluxe Pr18s with free (Wa101) persional pedometorReviewsI moved and when I setup the smart globe again it had been a while since we had used it.I plugged it in and bang the machine won't work. Apparently it causes a malfunction to have batteries and adapter. I think the warnings are not easy to see and it is too late when there is an issue. Customer service is difficult. My son received the SmartGlobe for Christmas and fell in love with it. When I did a software update in April, the Globe died. I contacted customer service and was told that the toy was no longer functional, was out of warranty, and that the only solution was to purchase a new Smart Pen for $49.99. The Smart Pen is out of stock at Oregon Scientific. So four months after spending $100 for a Christmas gift, it is broken, through no fault of my child's, and cannot be fixed without spending another $50 for a part that is unavailable. While we loved the Globe while it was functioning, I can't believe that it can't last a bit longer than 4 months without dying, or that the company can't offer a warranty longer than 90 days. Very disappointing for me as a consumer and for my child as the end user. Average Rating:![]() |

Highgear Fitware FM Radio Pedometer with Watch, Alarm, and ChronographReviewsCame with dead screen and dead batteries. Informed by company rep the product is very old product and probably used up life in storage. Replaced batteries [~$10], and still didn't work. Company only offered to have me return the item and they would jiggle around the batteries to establish battery contact. All in all, a $40 disaster. So I would recommending avoiding. This Pedometer took 18 days to get here, upon arrival I discovered the FM Tuner didn't work and the directions were very confusing. The quality of the product was very bad. It is not worth $50.00. This is the first time I have been upset about a product from Amazon. I returned the item the sameday . I am worried about a refund from this company. For $20 this looked like it could be a nice light radio for walking/jogging, with a bonus pedometer. The radio has no channel display, and the only setting is a reset button to go the bottom of the dial, then a scan button. When walking, it loses the station occasionally - luckily my prefered station is at the bottom of the dial, but if yours isn't this could be terribly annoying. As for the pedometer, it jumps by 10 steps just from clipping it on my waistband, and several times went zooming thru 20 or 30 steps when I was holding it perfectly still - thus worthless. I'm sending it back. Average Rating:![]() |

Pedometer Walking: Stepping Your Way to Health, Weight Loss, and FitnessReviewsFor the most part these authors have created a step by step process to achieving healthy benefits through walking. Each chapter brings an increase in effort and additional techniques, good! Sometimes though I got lost in the stories that were meant to inspire me. They were good, but not as effective in motivation as I had anticipated. The book works - that's a given - if you religiously follow the process. And that's the key that I felt more emphasis should be placed upon. 3 Stars is good. I gain from the authors work and recommend this book. The book is well written, easy to read and the right size to easily fit into your gym bag or backpack (5 1/2 X 8 1/2). Excellent ideas on setting up your own program. Relatively inexpensive. This is a super pedometer! Easy read, stores lots of info, and software to store it away on. Provides monthly chart to preserve what I do or don't do so far as walking goals in an easily accessed and colorful way. I'm on my second. Only complaint is the safety clip which attaches to pocket or waistband was fragile on the first and broke which meant it was constantly falling to the ground. Pedometer survived the falls and still works fine but I was concerned I'd lose it so ordered another. Great investment if you're interested in keeping records of your progress. Pedometer Walking: Stepping Your Way to Health, Weight Loss, and Fitness is a great book to get if you want to get into better shape or lose weight by walking. It's also a great read to help you get the most out of your pedometer. Here's what you get. The book has no chapters, but rather centers around a 6-week program. As you might have guessed, each section is a week. Weekly step logs are also included at the end of sections. Week 1 is simply about putting on your pedometer and doing your normal activities for a week. The goal here is to find out just what your average number of steps a day is. From there you'll build on that number and the rest of the book shows you how. Included in this section is all the basics you need to know about pedometers, such as how they work, the proper way to wear it, etc. Most helpful! Know now that your end-all goal of this 6-week program is to get you up to the 10,000 steps a day level. Many people have heard of the "10,000 stpes a day" campaign and it was extremely interesting to me that this number is actually based on research that has been going on since the mid 60's, mainly in Japan of all places. In a nutshell, people who walk 10,000 steps a day tend to have a normal weight compared to people who average about 6,000 steps a day or so. Now that's good info to know. On to Week 2- the goal here is to increase your average daily steps (which you found out at the end of Week 1) by 20%. This is a nice small increase. This section is all about ways to increase your daily steps. The Week 3 section is neat. After finding ways to increase your daily step number in the previous week, this week's goal is to practice building some of those modest increases into permanent additions- and to make your newer steps into habits. Week 4. By now you've managed to increase your steps and may be hitting a plateau when it comes to finding new ways to increase them even further. Enter the goal of week 4- ways to add walks to your week. By using the tips and suggestions in this section, most readers will no doubt be able to find clever ways of adding short walks here and there to further boost their daily step numbers. A few pictures of helpful stretches are also included. The Week 5 section covers an important way to boost steps- increase the speed at which you take steps. Here you learn the proper, safe way. And lastly, and perhaps most importantly, is the Week 6 section. Why? Because it covers STICKING with the program. As the book says, more than half the people who start a new fitness program drop out within 6 months. So, the emphasis here is ideas and tips to make pedometer walking a part of your life. The book ends with a frequently asked questions section and a nice resource section (i.e. hiking info, race walking info...). I have to say that this is a really enjoyable book to read with good research interspersed within each section. With the book, a pedometer, and a little motivation, I think most every reader will have a lot of fun reaching a new level of fitness. Avid walkers that have plantar fasciitis may also be interested in The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution. If you're wondering how to get the most out of using a pedometer, this book is for you. It's pretty basic so for someone like me that is already walking more than the average American but still not enough, I still was able to use it to structure a program for myself. It also gives equivalants for activities like swimming or bike riding. In my 4th week I'm seeing an improviment in my legs appearence and strength and I'm starting to lose wieght. It's become a way of life that I don't think I would have if not for the info in this book. Average Rating:![]() |

Walk the Walk: The Kid's Book of Pedometer ChallengesReviewsMy son LOVES this book! Everyday when he comes home from school he is so excited to tell me how many miles he's walked. He also loves the fun activities in the book, like competing with his friends and siblings to see who can walk the most in one minute. I recommend this book to all - it's a great way to get kids excited about exercise! I bought this for my five year old, hoping it would motivate her to walk more. Boy did it ever! She loved the games in the book, and she loved counting her strides. It made a HUGE difference in her attitude towards exercise. Unfortunately the pedometer broke but Amazon was very good about taking it back. I subsequently bought an Omron digital pedometer. However, for the price you can't beat this book with the companion pedometer - you can always upgrade later. I give the author a lot of credit for appealing to this age group. Provides a simple but enjoyable way for parents and children to share exercise and learning. Addition of ped- o- meter is genius Average Rating:![]() |
